The shape of your face should contrast with the shape of your spectacles. For round faces rectangular frames work well whilst round frames go well square faces. Should you have an oval face then this is most versatile allowing you more choice in frame sahpe and styles.

The size of the frame should be scale with your face so for small faces go for smaller eyesizes and larger sizes are suited for larger heads. The average frame size is 50-18 for men and 49-17 for ladies.

The frame colour should also complement your skin tone. Cool complexions have blue or pink undertones, whilst warm complexions have a yellow cast. Suited warm skin tone colours include camel, gold, peach, khaki, orange and peach. Black, blue, pink and magenta are suited for cooler skin tones.

If you are thinking about having lenses that change with the density of the light (Transitions) then ensure that the colour of the lenses (either brown or grey) match the frame colour you have chosen.

Subtle and minimalist – If you want your glasses to disappear or hardly be noticed there are many rimless or semi-rimless frames available. Choosing appropriate trim colours can disguise the frame further against the colour of your skin tones.
