Vettriano’s sunglasses left him Midnight Blue
Jack Vettriano is one of Britain’s best loved artists. Totally self-taught, this home-grown genius (despite the name, he’s 100% Scottish) found fame with the Singing Butler in 1992, prints of which have outsold every other artist in the UK. Now based in Nice, his works are retrograde, sexy and stylish, evoking film noir and 60’s Riviera images.
As seen in iconic works like Midnight Blue and Traffic Light Moment, a recurring theme is his use of Chanel and Dior designer sunglasses. They turn up everywhere: on beaches, motel rooms and at the wheels of fast sports cars.
