Diesel Glasses
Diesel was founded by the Italian designers Renzo Rosso and Adriano Goldschmied in 1978 as part of the Genius Group.
Meanwhile a Wilbert Das of Reithoven in Holland was studying fashion design in Arnehms academy of fine arts. In 1988 Wilbert held his degree show featuring clothes inspired by street and work wear and featuring leather and denim which lead to many offers of work in Europe. But this wasn't enough for the young and vibrant Das who had his sights firmly fixed on the Italian fashion market.
In 1978 He found himself attending an interview with the Genius Group's newly formed Diesel label. It wasn't until 1988 when Das was interviewed again by Renzo Rosso that he was taken aboard with Diesel and indeed started work on the same day as his interview working alongside Renzo Rosso which over the years has proven to be a very successful pairing.
The Brand has been well known since its birth for producing denim and leather goods and focusing on the street and work wear influence. Diesel nowadays design and produce a wide range of goods including watches, jewellery, handbags, furniture and home decor, shoes, eyewear, and even a collaboration with the Giant motor manufacturer Fiat to produce a special edition FIAT 500 car!
