The history behind the Prada brands starts in 1913 when Mario Prada opens in Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, in Milan, an exclusive store selling leather bags, trunks, beauty cases and luxury accessories.

In 1919 his hard work is payed off when Prada is appoointed as the "Official Supplier to the Italian Royal Household"; as such it acquires the right to incorporate the House of Savoy's coat of arms and knotted rope design into its trademark logo.
It was after the founders granddaughter joins the company in 1977 along with Patrizio Bertelli, a Tuscan busnessman that the company moves into European markets
with several high-end leather goods and this is where they started laying the foundations for Prada's development. Swiftly followed by their first women's footwear collection in 1979.
With business going from strength to strength and the companies name growing and gaining a vast following of opulent customers in 1986 they opened stores in New York and Madrid,
followed a few years later by London, Paris and Tokyo.
In the year 2000 much to our delight Prada launched its first optical and sunglass eyewear collection, bringing a touch of class and elegence to the market. To this day Prada leads the way
in the optical field with its use of colour and expectional design and workmanship within its collections.
To date Prada is one of the three offical partners of the Italian Pavilion at the 2010 Expo of Shanghai and opens four new flagship stores in Shanghai, two Prada and two Miu Miu, which brings
the Prada Group's prescence in China to a total of 38 stores at the end of 2010.
